The history of the development of gas-making and gas supply in Budapest is introduced by the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Gas Industry with several photos, documents, written and material remains.
The special collection was granted the privileges of a museum in 1996. Since then an enlarged exhibition has been organized in the museum ("The history of gas supply in Budapest") according to the jubilee year. Subjects: spreading of gas lighting in the continent; appearance of gas lighting in Hungary; gas supply of Budapest; construction of gas-making factories; development of gas supplying services; advertising activity since the 1930s; demolition caused by World War II and the reconstruction thereupon; remarkable steps of the development of gas distribution and gas supply; technical improvement; privatization; devices operated with gas.
