This is the central national museum of both 19th and 20th century and contemporary Hungarian literature. The museum collects, stores, arranges, publishes and exhibits literary relics. The museum is also a scientific workshop, it organizes conferences and publishes technical books.
It organizes literary events, readings, book introductions, discussions. In addition it promotes Hungarian literature abroad and world literature in Hungary. The museum also organizes the Palotakert Nights open-air summer programme series with classical music, jazz and folk music concerts and theatre performances.

Entrance fee for families (2 adults and their children): 560 HUF
Entrance fee for children, pensioners and students: 140 HUF.
