The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest is one of the most significant museums of Europe. Due to the variety of its material, its historical continuity and its numerous masterpieces, it occupies a worthy position in the list of collections. The Museum of Fine Arts houses the relics of universal art from the ancient times to the present. Its collections including the Egyptian Collection, the Antiquities Collection, the Old Masters' Gallery, the Old Sculpture Collection, the Prints and Drawings Collection and the Modern Collection present world-famous works of art such as the amphora with a black figure by Exekias, 'Madonna' by Raffaello, paintings by El Greco, Velazquez and Goya, 'The Portrait of a Man' by Dürer, the Equestrian statue by Leonardo, 'The Lady with a Fan' by Manet or 'The Blue village' by Chagall. Every Thursday the museum is open until 10 p.m.. In these evenings it awaits visitors with special programmes, guidance and a Jazz Salon.
