Dr. Géza Kresz, the municipal health officer of the fifth disrict, the founder of the Budapest Voluntary First-aid Association and organized life-saving in Hungary, decided to found a museum in 1892.
The museum can be found on the first floor of the Budapest Central Ambulance Station. The building itself is also a monument, it was built between 1889-91 as the first planned ambulance station of Europe. The halls of the museums are named after the prominent personalities of organizing life-saving in Hungary.
