The Hungarian Museum of Natural Sciences is the third oldest museum in Europe. More than 10 million exhibits are preserved in its scientific collections. The exhibitions present the natural beauties of the Carpathian-basin and the world in a new, interactive way. In 2004 the exhibition and visitor halls are to be extended by 2000 square metres, which will make the museum suitable for meeting the demands of the 21st century. The valuable collections from abroad contribute to the wide variety of the collections.
