The village is situated in Inner-Somogy, along road No. 61, in the territory of oak forests, halfway between Kaposvár and Nagykanizsa. It has more than 900 inhabitants. It was first mentioned in records in 1211, and was named after its landowner, Vehse in the age of Árpáds. Its outstanding event is the National Blackmiths' Festival in the middle of July. One of the most beautiful parts of the village is the park centuries old, where you can see rare trees, giant plane-trees and tulip-trees. Protected architectural monuments are the building of the school, the former Véssey-mansion and the neo-Classical building of the local council. Other sights include the Léhner-house and the Lutheran Church with the vicarage. Pictures of Vése |
