The village with about 2,000 inhabitants is located in the north-eastern corner of Zala county bordered by Vas and Veszprém counties, 15 kms from Sümeg, 6 kms from Zalaszentgrót. Sight of the village is the Premonstrant provostship founded by the Türje clan before 1234. Today it is the parish church of the village, a listed monument. The glassworks, which are famous for their crystal products, can be visited. Outstanding events are the Spring festival together with the May day festival, the patronal festival in August, and the vintage procession and ball at the end of September.
