The settlement with 2, 700 inhabitants was formed by the union of the former Tunyog and Matolcs. It is situated on the right bank of the river Szamos on the road No. 491, near Fehérgyarmat. The Calvinist church of Tunyog is a Romantic building from the 1800s, it is built on a medieval base. The Calvinist church of Matolcs is from 1767, it is in Baroque style. There used to stand the "kurta kocsma" (village pub), which was sung by the famous Hungarian poet, Sándor Petőfi.
