The village of 2,000 inhabitants is situated a bit south-east of Győr, between roads No. 81 and 82. A settlement from the age of the Árpáds. From the beginning of the 16th century it was owned by the Tötösy family and from that time it was called Tötöstava for a long time. The "tava" part of the name means someone's lake.
