A small village 10 km south of Lake Balaton, which forms a group of so-called dead-end settlements of the Outer-Somogy hills with the neighbouring villages called Szólád, Kötcse and Nagycsepely. It dates back to the age of Arpads. It was first mentioned under the name of Villa Theluky in 1211 in a document recording the estates of the Tihany abbey. The church built in honour of Saint Andrews, some parts of which were rebuilt, has been preserved up to now. It was mentioned in a document issued for the nuns of the Rabbit-island in 1271. The altar of the church with wooden shingle was built in Romanesque style, its nave -in Baroque style. The Reformed church was opened in 1865. The quiet, peaceful environment has become popular with Hungarian and foreign tourists, too. While you are walking, cycling or riding in the region, you have an opportunity to taste the excellent wines grown in Teleki and at the same time you can enjoy the wonderful panorama. |
