Town with 10,462 inhabitants at the confluence of the rivers Berettyó and Sebes-Körös. It has been populated for about seven thousand years. It was first mentioned in records in 1607. The settlement was completely formed in 1711 and then it soon became the largest settlement in the county. The Hungarian, purely Calvinist population built a school and a church for itself. The Roman Catholic church was built between 1784 and 1794. The Várhelyi Youth Camp near the river Sebes-Körös awaits visitors who wish to relax.
