in Sámsonháza:   Hotel

Large village in the Cserhát Mountains at the meeting point of Cserhát and Mátra Mountains. The river Little-Zagyva goes through the village. It was named after its former owner Sámson, who lived in the 12th century. He built the "Fehérkő" (White Stone) castle on the hilltop above the village, which was first mentioned in records in 1409. The sieges in the 17th century entirely demolished the village, it revived only in the 18th century thanks to the arriving Slovak Lutheran families. In Kopanka dűlő Gyula Styaszni found the bones of a mammoth. They can be seen in the Hungarian National Museum.
