The village has been inhabited since the Roman times, it is situated 30 km of Budapest on road No. 10. In the ancient times it was called Boldog Liget (Happy Grove) because of its beautiful location. After the Turkish devastation Slovak and German settlers arrived here, it has significant ethnic German population even today. The Roman Catholic church in Baroque style was built between 1778 and 1781, you can see the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in front of it. In Klotildliget which belongs to the village the Péter Pázmány Catholic University can be found. It was built in 1991. The campus which was formed on the site of the one-time garrison is an architectural masterpiece. Popular places of excursions: the dolomite rock of Csabai tower and the 550 m high Nagy-Szénás. |
