The settlement on the brook Rákos between Gödöllő and Vác came to existence with the union of two villages. One of them is Őrszentmiklós. The patron saint of the XVI Louis style church from 1784 is Saint Michael. The village got its name from him. The Roman Catholic church of Vácbottyán is in Baroque style, beside it you can find the one-time Pauline inn from 1761, it serves as a cultural centre and library today. The only bell-found of the country can also be found here. There is a 5-hectare lake near the village.
