Township with 4,400 inhabitants in the Danube Bend, on the left bank of the river. The town status was obtained in 1324 and confirmed by nine other kings in the years after. Sights include the Roman Catholic church (1320) with Gothic, octagonal tower and neoclassical rural living houses. Five chestnut woods were planted here by King Charles Robert. One of the most beautiful walks of Hungary is the one along the river, offering the best panorama of Visegrád. Tour paths with route signs branch out from the town to the Börzsöny Mountains, to the Duna-Ipoly National Park. The hunting days and exhibition named after Kálmán Kittenberger are organized in June.
