The village of 650 inhabitants is accessible on M3 motorway. Take road No. 21 at Hatvan first and at Tar you can turn into the road leading to the village.
It was first mentioned in records in 1220. According to the records of tithes from 1332-37 the village already had a parish, but the present neo-Gothic church was built only in 1883. Near the village you can find the boggy lake Nádas in the hills of the Cserhát. The lake is the habitat for various kinds of peat moss. The protected territory is part of the East-Cserhát Nature Conservation Area. It is an excellent excursion spot for visitors who prefer the peace of a village.
