Village with 2,250 inhabitants on road No. 23, 16 km to the south-east of Salgótarján. It was formed by the union of Nádújfalu and Homokterenye. There are three Roman Catholic churches in the village. The oldest is from the 13th century. In the 15th century it was transformed into Gothic style, it got its present facede in 1801. It is a historic monument of great significance. The Baroque style church was built at the beginning of the 1700s. There is a wooden belfry near it from the middle of the 17th century. The speciality of the church is its painted coffered ceiling.The third small church used to give consolation to the miners of Jánosakna. The collection of the local history and the Palots collection can be visited. The 10 hectare mining pond near the village is ideal for angling. |
