in Mátranovák:  

Village with 2,264 inhabitants at the northern foot of the Mátra Mountains. Several beautiful old Palóc houses have survived in the village, where folk handicraft traditions are still alive. The Hegyeske juniper grove is protected area. The largest nature conservation area of the county is northeast of the village. Lake Nyírmedi and its environment is a catchment area rich in water. There are eight finely built up wells in the vicinity of the lake. Mátracser-puszta, part of the nature conservation area itself, is worth visiting.
