Town with 4,734 inhabitants in the south-western corner of Zala county. It was first mentioned in records in 1347. It is a settlement of Slavic origin. Sights: Szapáry castle, Aranybárány (Golden Sheep) Inn and the Baroque church. It has been an important road junction, the most significant south-western gate of the country since 1923.
