It was first mentioned in records in 1730. At present it has 789 inhabitants. After World War II. the Germans were removed here and Székelys from Bukovina and families from Upper Northern Hungary were settled here. Different associations work in the village such as the Bukovina Székely tradition-preserving, the fishing, the pensioners', the firefighters' and the sports association.
