in Kereki:   Sight - Travel Service

A village with 564 inhabitants 7 km south of Balatonföldvár. The neoclassical Roman Catholic church was built in 1830. Most probably it was after the Mongolian Invasion when the Kereki Castle was built of brick covered with white plaster-work. That is why the other name of the place is Fejérkő-vára (White Rock Castle). The south-western part of the castle has still been preserved at height of several floors. Here you can find the largest private stud-farm of Hungary, the Pelsonius Arab stud with nearly 300 horses. Its natural surroundings, the forests of the Somogy hills, the private accommodation of the village and its closeness to Lake Balaton make it an ideal place for village and hunting tourism.
