The name of the small village of 128 inhabitants originates from the name of quicksand. It was first mentioned in records from the age of Árpáds. Főnyed lies on the shore of Small Balaton. In the near future a bird-watching centre will be built here offering an opportunity of studying the wide variety of birds of Small Balaton.
