Village with 352 inhabitants 13 km south of Balassagyarmat, in the direction of Aszód. Imre Madách lived in the village from 1845 to 1853, the small manor is a Memorial Museum of the writer with a permanent exhibition. The Catholic church, originally built in Romanesque style in 1212, with Gothic sanctuary and ceiling, was rebuilt in Baroque style. Other spots of the village are the Majthényi mansion, the Rákóczi house and a spring well from the Turkish age.
