Coming from Siófok on the shore of Lake Balaton turn into the road to Tab at Daránypuszta and you can get to the village. Its name comes from a personal name, Bábony and the name of a tribe called Megyer, it was first mentioned in records in 1193 under the name Megyer. The present village was formed when the former Nagybábony and Koppánymegyer were united. In the village you can visit the painter Gyula Rudnay's house, the headboard of Pista Patkó, the Protestant and the Lutheran churches and the Rudnay-frescos.
