The origin of the settlement in the south of county Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, on the right bank of the river Tisza dates back to ancient times shown by the tombs from the Sarmatian, Avar age that were found here. It has 1296 inhabitants. It has beautiful natural values and a wonderful historical past. The house of regional traditions run by the Bükk National Park was opened in 1994. The exhibition presents the wildlife and traditional folk culture of the Mezőség region in South-Borsod. The monument late baroque Roman Catholic church was built between 1797 and 1800. Its remarkable architectural feature is the cope. The beautiful environment on the bank of the Tisza offers innumerable recreation opportunities. It is a favourite destination for families who love water and fishing.
