Village with 5,118 residents on the southern shore of Lake Tisza, a favourite place for lovers of aquatics and angling. There are outstanding altarpieces by Mihály Kovács in the Roman Catholic church built in 1744. The Village House was built in 1999; puppets in folk dresses and the old-time tools of bone-lace making and rope-making are exhibited here. Remarkable programs on the beach of Lake Tisza and on the open-air stage will be the following: carneval, street ball, "water show", firegame (July 15th); The Beauty of Lake Tisza (July 29th); Riding Days (August 6th and 7th); International Festival of Folk and Sports Games of Szalók (from August 18th till August 20).
